Biographical Info

GWYNN GRIFFIN has been playing, teaching and performing for over 35 years, first in California, and, for the past 30 years, here in Connecticut.  She has performed vocally with the Paul Winter Consort and the Litchfield County Choral Union.  For the past several years, Gwynn has been a member of the Ariel Flute Choir, under the direction of flutist Bridget Gilchrist.  Each year at Christmas time, the Ariel Flute Choir performs as a part of Hartford's Wadsworth Atheneum's Festival of Trees.  Gwynn is a performing member of the Musical Club of Hartford, where she has the opportunity to work with some of the finest musicians in Connecticut for performances at the Town and County Club (Hartford) and at Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford.  She has enjoyed playing with the Litchfield Chamber Orchestra, with pianists/organists Joy Zublena, Maurice Steinberg, Anne O'Brien and Erik Holst-Grubbe,  and with classical guitarist Steven Taylor.   Most recently, Gwynn has begun performing under the baton of Mr. Gary Partridge, conductor of Capitol Winds, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble based out of the Harrt School of Music at the University of Hartford.  In the Fall of 2006, she looks forward to joining the Laurel City Singers under the direction of Mr. Adam Atkins. The Laurel City Singers are an integral part of the annual Boar's Head Festival held each January at First Church in Winsted, CT.  The famous Sharon Playhouse may soon be a further outlet for Gwynn's musical  expression, as musical theatre was where it all began for her back in 1975.

As a flutist and vocalist, she now performs throughout Connecticut and parts of Massachusetts on a variety of different flutes, including alto flute, pennywhistle, crystal flutes and bamboo flutes.  Gwynn incorporates a wide range of musical styles and especially loves to play for brides and grooms on their wedding day and for the residents of Independent/Assisted Living communities.
